isotearyl alcohol 及 isostearic acid 的確是屬於高致粉刺的化合物之一。

不過必須同時考慮到濃度及配方基劑的成分。

目前有關致粉刺性的研究，是將化學成分塗在兔子的耳朵，來觀察是否有粉刺或是痘痘生成。

以 isostearyl alcohol為例，致粉刺性為2/3，而 isostearic acid為2/3-3/3

通常超過1/3的值，就必須考慮有致粉刺性，2/3-3/3就必須考慮有高度致粉刺性。

這類的物質屬於fatty alcohol及fatty acid一類

通常fatty alcohol的致粉刺性為：

isostearyl alcohol > oleyl alcohol > octyl dodecanol > lauryl alcohol > myristyl alcohol > cetyl alcohol > stearyl alcohol

而fatty acid的致粉刺性為：

oleic acid > isostearic acid > sstearic acid

通常acid酸類的致粉刺性會高於alcohol醇類的致粉刺性。
